Third Day, New Champions

18 June 2026

The third day of the 2026 European Senior Fencing Championships in Antony saw two experienced champions add another major title to their careers, as Estonia's Katrina Lehis claimed Women's Épée gold and France's Rafael Savin triumphed in Men's Foil.

Katrina Lehis Reclaims the European Crown

Eight years after winning her first European title, Katrina Lehis is once again the Queen of European Épée. The Estonian, who captured gold at the 2018 European Championships and finished with silver at last year's edition, completed her return to the top of the continental podium with an outstanding performance in Antony.

Lehis defeated Germany's Alexandra Ehler in the final, while Hungary's Eszter Muhari and Poland's Alicja Klasik shared the bronze medals. For Ehler, the silver medal represents the biggest international result of her career so far, while Muhari continued her impressive run of major championship performances following recent success on both the European and world stage.

Home Success in Men's Foil

The home crowd had another reason to celebrate as France's Rafael Savin claimed the Men's Foil title. Competing under pressure in front of his supporters, Savin produced a series of strong performances to secure the biggest senior victory of his career.

Poland's Andrzej Rzadkowski earned silver after an impressive tournament, while Italy's Tommaso Martini added another major medal to his growing collection with bronze. The second bronze medal went to Anton Borodachev.

Individual Programme Nears Its Conclusion

With six individual champions now crowned, attention turns to the final day of the individual competitions, where the remaining European titles will be decided before the team events begin.
