Senior épée in Luxembourg delivered a weekend of precision, tactical control and high-level intensity, with athletes from across Europe fighting through demanding elimination rounds.

In the men’s competition, Portugal celebrated a remarkable one-two finish as Miguel Frazao claimed gold ahead of compatriot Filipe Frazao, confirming the depth of Portuguese épée. Home supporters also had reason to celebrate as Flavio Giannotte secured a podium place for Luxembourg, while Rafael Tulen of the Netherlands completed the top four.

The women’s event saw Italy rise to the top of the podium through Elena Ferracuti, whose composed and confident fencing carried her to victory. Sophie Peat earned silver for British fencing after a strong series of direct elimination bouts, while Pauline Heubi of Switzerland and Beatrix Umlauf of Austria shared the bronze medals.

The future of European foil took centre stage in Zagreb as the U14 Circuit gathered the continent’s most promising young fencers for an important developmental milestone.

Hungary’s Lorand Kosztolanyi captured gold in the boys’ event with confident and dynamic fencing throughout the day. Italy followed closely with Evan Felici securing silver, while Rutkay Cinar Bayrak of Türkiye and Tiziano Sartogo of Italy concluded their strong campaigns with bronze medals.

In the girls’ competition, Italy once again stood out as Emma Pontello delivered a composed performance to take gold. Yunxi He of China earned silver after an impressive run, and the bronze medals went to Allegra Brugnera of Italy and Derin Taspinar of Türkiye.
