Latvia, Great Britain and Türkiye Celebrate Junior Gold in Tbilisi

Junior Intensity Continues

The sixth day of the European Cadets & Juniors Championships in Tbilisi delivered another full programme of junior individual events, with 283 athletes competing across women’s épée, men’s foil and men’s sabre.

As the individual junior competitions approach their conclusion, the medal race continues to widen, with new nations stepping onto the highest podium.

Junior Women’s Épée: Latvia Strikes Gold

In a strong field of 104 fencers, Prosina Sofija of Latvia produced a composed and confident performance to secure the European junior title. Managing the elimination rounds with tactical precision, she brought Latvia its first junior gold of the Championships.

Maksymenko Anna of Ukraine earned the silver medal after a consistent campaign, while Janeczek Oliwia of Poland and Trynova Julia of Estonia completed the podium with bronze medals.

Junior Men’s Foil: British Double

The men’s foil event gathered 96 competitors and concluded with a remarkable British final. Sosnov David claimed gold after a strong and disciplined performance, while Belbouab Mohammed secured silver to complete a historic one-two finish for British Fencing.

The bronze medals were taken by Chashchin Dmitrii of Russia and Barby Henrik of Germany, both demonstrating resilience in the later rounds.

Junior Men’s Sabre: Türkiye on Top

In junior men’s sabre, 83 athletes competed for the continental crown. Yaman Furkan of Türkiye delivered a confident performance to secure gold, adding another title to Türkiye’s growing medal presence in Tbilisi.

Borisov Iaroslav of Russia earned silver, while Vajda Oszkar of Hungary and Rouviere Paul of France shared the bronze medals.

Tomorrow: Junior Team Battles Begin

Attention now turns to the junior team competitions, where national depth and strategic cohesion will determine the next European champions. Men’s Épée Teams, Women’s Foil Teams and Women’s Sabre Teams will take to the piste from 09:00, promising high-intensity encounters and dramatic finishes.

As Tbilisi hosts Europe’s finest young athletes, the junior chapter continues to unfold — and the race for continental supremacy is far from decided.
