Second day delivers intense finals as titles decided in épée, foil and sabre

Second Day Results

The second day of the 17th European Under 23 Fencing Championships in Cagliari brought another full schedule of high-level bouts, with three new individual champions crowned across men’s épée, women’s foil and women’s sabre.

In men’s épée, Dov Ber Vilensky of Israel secured the gold medal after a strong and consistent performance throughout the day. Hungary’s Gergely Kovacs finished second, while the bronze medals were shared between Yehonathan Lambrey Messika of Israel and Soma Somody of Hungary.

The women’s foil event saw a victory for Italy, as Aurora Grandis claimed gold on home soil. France’s Keren Aye took the silver medal, while Alicia Audibert of France and Italy’s Matilde Molinari completed the podium with bronze.

In women’s sabre, Veronika Vasileva of Bulgaria emerged as the winner, confirming her form with a confident performance in the final. Alexandra Kuvaeva of Georgia secured silver, while Cyrielle Rioux of France and Manuela Spica of Italy finished with bronze medals.

Competitive Balance Across Nations

The second day highlighted the diversity of European fencing, with gold medals shared between Israel, Italy and Bulgaria, and multiple nations represented across all podiums. The level of competition remains consistently high, with tight bouts and strong performances across all weapons.

Looking Ahead – Day 3

The action continues tomorrow with the team events: men’s sabre, women’s épée and men’s foil, where national teams will compete for continental titles.
