Two days of intense action across foil and épée

A Weekend of International Competition

The Eurofence League continued its 2026 season with a dynamic stop in Zagreb on April 11 and 12, bringing together a strong field of senior fencers from across Europe. The event offered an important competitive platform for emerging athletes, with high-intensity bouts and valuable international exposure across both foil and épée.


Foil Competitions Deliver High-Level Performances

In the men’s foil event, Serbia’s Veljko Cuk claimed victory after a series of confident performances, showing control and precision in the decisive moments. Italy’s Antonio Roman Gai secured second place, demonstrating consistency throughout the competition, while Croatia’s Borna Spoljar and Italy’s Francesco Pio Iandolo shared third place after strong semifinal appearances.

The women’s foil competition was marked by Italy’s depth and quality. Carlotta Ferrari took the top step of the podium with a composed and tactical display, overcoming Vittoria Ciampalini in an all-Italian final. Hungary’s Erika Nekifor and Italy’s Matilde Calvanese completed the podium, both delivering solid performances through the direct elimination rounds.


Italian Dominance in Épée Events

The épée competitions saw a particularly strong showing from Italy. In the men’s event, Nicolo’ Del Contrasto led an all-Italian podium, confirming his form with a confident victory in the final against Jacopo Rizzi. Giacomo Verduchi and Marco Francesco Locatelli shared third place, highlighting the depth of the Italian squad.

In the women’s épée, Vittoria Siletti secured gold after a consistent performance throughout the day. Switzerland’s Virginia Romeo claimed silver, while Italy’s Eleonora Orso and Bianca Magni finished with bronze medals, reinforcing Italy’s strong presence in the discipline.
