Israel, France and Georgia Celebrate Gold on Second Day in Tbilisi

Cadet Battles Intensify in Tbilisi

The second day of the European Cadets & Juniors Fencing Championships in Tbilisi delivered another full schedule of high-level performances, with 288 young athletes competing across three individual events. As the individual cadet programme concluded, the medal table began to take clearer shape, confirming both traditional fencing powers and emerging forces.

Cadet Women’s Épée: Israeli Triumph in a Strong Field

With 116 participants on the start list, Cadet Women’s Épée once again demonstrated the depth of European youth fencing. After a demanding day of elimination bouts, Chtеfanov Emily of Israel claimed the European title, managing the decisive moments with composure and tactical discipline.

Bartoskova Adela of Czech Republic secured the silver medal, while Gorbachuk Yelyzaveta of Ukraine and Nikiforov Viktoria of Germany shared the bronze medals, both reaching the semi-final stage in a highly competitive tableau.

Cadet Men’s Foil: France Strikes Again

The men’s foil event gathered 92 participants and produced a strong performance from France. Boumaza Mahel fenced with confidence throughout the direct elimination rounds to secure the gold medal, adding a second French title to the cadet medal tally.

Italy’s Pierucci Giovanni earned silver after a consistent day of fencing, while Gao Yi Xing of Spain and Robinet Lucas of France both finished with bronze medals.

Cadet Men’s Sabre: Host Nation Celebrates

In front of home supporters, Urushadze Giorgi of Georgia delivered a memorable performance to win gold in Cadet Men’s Sabre. Competing in a field of 80 participants, he rose through the tableau with determination, securing a landmark victory for the host nation.

Berrak Candeniz of Türkiye finished second to take silver, while Hirsch Butte’ Pietro of Italy and Godo Vilmos of Hungary shared the bronze medals.

Medal Standings After Two Days

With six individual cadet titles now decided, the medal standings are becoming increasingly competitive. France leads among the most successful nations so far with two gold medals and additional podium finishes. Hungary, Türkiye, Israel and Georgia have each secured important victories, while Italy continues to demonstrate depth with multiple silver and bronze medals across weapons.

A total of 558 cadet athletes have competed across the six individual events over the first two days, underlining the scale and competitiveness of this continental Championship.

Tomorrow: Team Competitions Begin

The focus now shifts to team events, where national strategy and collective strength take centre stage.

Tomorrow’s programme will feature the Cadet team competitions with Men’s Épée Teams, Women’s Foil Teams and Women’s Sabre Teams taking to the piste from 09:00. Team events traditionally bring some of the most intense matches of the Championships, as countries fight not only for medals but for national pride and ranking points.
