France, Türkiye and Hungary Celebrate Victories on Opening Day of Cadet European Championships

A Strong Opening at the European Championships

The European Cadets & Juniors Fencing Championships in Tbilisi began with intensity, depth and impressive performances across three weapons. Day one of the cadet programme brought together 270 young athletes in men’s épée, women’s foil and women’s sabre, setting the tone for a week that will define the European youth season.

With medals awarded in three individual events, the first entries in the Championship medal table have now been written — and the race among nations has officially begun.

Cadet Men’s Épée: French Precision Prevails

A total of 122 fencers lined up in Cadet Men’s Épée, delivering a long and demanding day of competition. In a field marked by tactical maturity and composure under pressure, France’s Toto Hiroaki emerged victorious, claiming the European title with authority.

Italy’s De Gaetano Pietro secured the silver medal after a strong progression through the direct elimination rounds, while Dekany Patrik of Hungary and Lachman Mordechai Milu of Israel shared the bronze medals, both demonstrating consistency and resilience throughout the tableaux.

Cadet Women’s Foil: Atmaca Confirms Her Leadership

The women’s foil event gathered 86 participants and delivered a final worthy of a continental stage. Türkiye’s Atmaca Alara, winner of the 2025 Cadet European Championships, confirmed her leadership in the category by capturing another European gold medal.

Adoch Alexandra of Romania finished second, earning silver after a confident and well-structured competition. The bronze medals were shared by Abele Liene of Latvia and Bolore Melisande of France, both reaching the semi-final stage in a field rich with emerging talent.

Cadet Women’s Sabre: Hungary on Top

In women’s sabre, 62 athletes competed for the continental title. Komjathy Boglarka of Hungary, bronze medallist at the 2025 Cadet European Championships, stepped up to the highest podium position this year, converting experience into gold.

Velychko Maiia of Ukraine earned the silver medal after a strong performance throughout the day. Italy celebrated a double bronze, with Torre Anna and Mocci Vittoria both reaching the semi-finals and securing places on the podium.

Medal Table Taking Shape

After the first day of cadet individual competition, the medal table begins to take early form. France, Türkiye and Hungary each celebrate gold medals, while Italy, Romania, Ukraine, Latvia and Israel have already entered the podium standings.

With 270 participants competing on the opening day alone, the scale and competitiveness of the Championships are clearly evident. As the cadet individual programme continues, the battle for national ranking points and medal leadership intensifies.
