France, Poland and Italy Crowned as U17 Chapter Closes and Juniors Prepare to Begin

Final Cadet Titles Decided

The cadet programme of the European Cadets & Juniors Fencing Championships in Tbilisi came to its conclusion with three decisive team events that completed the U17 medal picture. Intensity remained high until the final bouts, as nations fought not only for gold but for position in the overall medal standings.

Across the three events of the day, 62 teams stepped onto the piste, bringing the total number of cadet teams in this Championship to well over one hundred across all weapons.

Cadet Men’s Foil Team: France Finishes Strong

Nineteen teams competed in Cadet Men’s Foil, where France confirmed its depth once again. Boumaza Mahel, Chino Constantin, Robinet Lucas and Lezinska Victor delivered a composed and consistent performance to secure the European team title.

Italy finished with silver through Pierucci Giovanni, Di Martino Giuseppe, Guidi Luca and Mancini Riccardo, while Poland claimed bronze thanks to Borkowski Olgierd, Bak Aleksander, Gluszak Szymon and Wisnik Feliks.

Cadet Women’s Épée Team: Poland on Top

The women’s épée competition gathered 26 teams and delivered one of the most balanced events of the cadet programme. Poland emerged victorious through Ciszzczon Maria, Tercjak Jagoda, Furman Lena and Bialecka Zofia, converting consistency into gold.

Ukraine secured silver with Spyrydonova Polina, Dmytruk Alina, Gorbachuk Yelyzaveta and Anharska Marharyta, while France added another podium finish with bronze thanks to Gaspard Faustine, Loue Charlotte, Verges Laura and Mugnier Appoline.

Cadet Men’s Sabre Team: Italy Climbs to Gold

Seventeen teams contested Cadet Men’s Sabre, where Italy concluded the U17 competitions in style. Avaltroni Christian, Tallarico Tommaso, Sciullo Jacopo and Hirsch Butte’ Pietro combined experience and rhythm to secure the European title.

Bulgaria earned silver through Atanasov Konstantin, Gospodinov Deyan, Ivanov Nikola and Meitsov Nikola, while Greece completed the podium with bronze thanks to Livanos Nikolaos, Koumparos Michael, Ntivis Angelos and Koutlas Evangelos Vasileios.

Cadet Medal Summary

With all individual and team events completed, the cadet medal table reflects the competitive balance of European youth fencing. France and Italy stand among the most successful nations in Tbilisi, each collecting multiple gold medals across weapons. Poland’s team success in women’s épée and strong podium finishes further elevated its standing, while Hungary, Türkiye, Israel, Georgia and others contributed to a diverse and dynamic medal distribution.

Over four days of cadet competition, more than 550 individual athletes and over 160 teams participated, underlining both the scale and depth of the European youth circuit.

Juniors Ready to Take the Stage

Attention now turns to the Junior (U20) Championships, which begin tomorrow.

The opening day of the junior programme will feature Men’s Épée Individual starting at 09:00, Women’s Foil Individual at 11:00 and Women’s Sabre Individual at 13:00.

The following day will continue with Women’s Épée Individual, Men’s Foil Individual and Men’s Sabre Individual, before the team competitions conclude the Championship over the final two days.

As the cadet chapter closes, a new level of intensity begins. The junior athletes now step onto the piste in Tbilisi, ready to write the next pages of this European Championship.
