European Cadets and Juniors Championships Set the Season’s Benchmark in Tbilisi

A Key Stage of the European Season

From 20 to 27 February 2026, the city of Tbilisi will welcome Europe’s strongest young talents for the European Cadets & Juniors Fencing Championships. For the European Fencing Confederation, the European Championships represent the central milestone of the season — a decisive moment where preparation, resilience and ambition meet on the biggest continental stage.

Across eight days of competition, cadet (U17) and junior (U20) athletes will compete in all three weapons — foil, épée and sabre — in both individual and team events. Beyond medals, this Championship defines rankings, shapes international careers and sets the tone for future senior success.

Cadets: Opening the Championship

The cadet competitions will run from 20 to 23 February, beginning with individual events across all weapons, followed by the team competitions. Each day will conclude with medal ceremonies, highlighting the next generation of European fencing.

The cadet programme opens with individual épée, foil and sabre events for both men and women, before moving into the team competitions where national pride takes centre stage.

Juniors: The Continental Benchmark

From 24 to 27 February, the focus shifts to the junior category. Individual events will once again open the programme, followed by the team competitions that traditionally deliver some of the most intense and tactical matches of the season.

Team events, scheduled across the final two days, will test collective strategy, depth of squad and composure under pressure — often revealing the future core of senior national teams.
