The 2026/2027 European fencing season gathered further momentum over the weekend of 19–20 September, with competitions in Bratislava–Šamorín and Cluj-Napoca bringing together foil fencers from across Europe.
While the previous weekend preview looked ahead to the action, the focus now turns to the athletes who made their mark on the pistes. Gold medals went to fencers from Great Britain, Italy and Romania, with strong podium performances across both senior and U14 events.
Rhys Pollitt and Cammilletti Win in Bratislava–Šamorín
The Eurofence League Circuit in Bratislava–Šamorín delivered two competitive foil events and an international podium in both categories.
In men’s foil, Rafael Rhys Pollitt of Great Britain claimed victory, with Francesco Pio Iandolo of Italy finishing second. Hugo Ioan Andre Valiere of Romania and Petar Files of Croatia completed the podium with bronze medals.
The women’s competition ended with Italian, Marta Cammilletti securing gold. Rebeka Liliana Forgach of Slovakia took silver, while Gaia Cantucci of Slovakia and Dorja Blazic of Croatia shared third place.
The event offered another valuable opportunity for athletes to test themselves early in the season and collect important international experience.

Young Foilists Impress in Cluj-Napoca
The U14 European Circuit in Cluj-Napoca once again highlighted the next generation of European foilists.
In the men’s event, Federico Marchitelli of Italy took the title, finishing ahead of Great Britain’s Frederick Mirsky. Fabian Hruza of the Czech Republic and Andrei Mihai of Romania earned bronze medals.
The women’s competition brought a home victory for Romania, with Amalia Sidoreac taking gold. Savina Petrov of Bulgaria finished second, while Elena Adoch of Romania and Aleksandra Bachvarova of Bulgaria completed the podium in third place.
For many of the young fencers, the competition represented another important step in gaining confidence, international experience and familiarity with the rhythm of European Circuit events.

Sofia Results to Follow
The U14 European Circuit in Sofia also formed part of this weekend’s European fencing programme, with young sabre fencers competing in Bulgaria.

Another Weekend in the Books
The weekend once again showed the breadth of European fencing, from experienced competitors at the Eurofence League to young U14 athletes taking important early steps on the international stage.
The European Fencing Confederation congratulates all medalists and participants and thanks the organisers, referees, coaches and volunteers who contributed to another successful weekend of competition.
