The European Fencing Confederation (EFC), through its Equality & Diversity Commission, is inviting the European fencing community to take part in the Wear It Pink Campaign, an initiative supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
From 26 to 31 October 2026, national federations, fencing clubs, athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers across Europe are encouraged to wear pink ribbons and share messages of solidarity with those affected by breast cancer.
The initiative aims to raise awareness, encourage conversations about early detection and demonstrate how sport can bring people together in support of an important cause.
A Message of Solidarity from the Equality & Diversity Commission
Patricia Aiyenuro, Chairperson of the EFC Equality & Diversity Commission, emphasised the importance of collective action and the role of the fencing community in promoting awareness and inclusion.
"The EFC Equality & Diversity Commission is proud to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month through the Wear It Pink Campaign, bringing together the European fencing community in a visible show of solidarity with those affected by breast cancer.
During the week of 26–31 October, we encourage national federations, clubs, coaches, officials, volunteers, and athletes across Europe to wear a pink ribbon and share photos or short videos from training sessions, club activities, and competitions. Through this collective action, we aim to raise awareness, encourage conversations about breast cancer, and demonstrate the fencing community's commitment to inclusion, wellbeing, and support for those facing health challenges.
This campaign is important because breast cancer impacts millions of individuals and families worldwide. By standing together and showing our support, we can help increase awareness, promote early detection, and remind those affected that they are not alone. As a diverse and united sporting community, European fencing has the power to inspire positive change, show compassion, and make a meaningful difference beyond the piste."
EFC Promotion & Marketing Commission Joins the Initiative
The campaign will receive the full support of the EFC Promotion & Marketing Commission, which will help amplify its message through the Confederation's official website and social media platforms.
Vincenzo De Bartolomeo, Chairperson of the EFC Promotion & Marketing Commission, highlighted the importance of using communication to promote values that extend beyond sporting achievements.
"I fully share and strongly support the statement issued by the Chairperson of the EFC Equality & Diversity Commission in support of the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign.
Our Commission is committed to giving maximum resonance to this initiative, actively promoting it across our social media channels and official website. We firmly believe that communication must serve the values of health and inclusion, amplifying a message that goes far beyond the boundaries of the piste.
Supporting this campaign also means highlighting the therapeutic value of our sport: fencing can provide effective support alongside traditional rehabilitation, helping women who have undergone surgery to regain physical mobility and rebuild self-confidence through the elegance and strength of the athletic gesture.
From 26 to 31 October, our digital platforms will showcase the European fencing community. I invite athletes, clubs, and federations to share their photos and videos wearing the pink ribbon: united on social media and on the piste, we will bring strength to this crucial bout for life."
How to Take Part in the Campaign
Throughout the week of 26–31 October, the EFC invites everyone involved in European fencing to participate in the Wear It Pink Campaign.
Participation is simple: wear a pink ribbon during training sessions, competitions or club activities, take a photo or record a short video, and share it on your social media channels.
Participants are encouraged to tag the official European Fencing Confederation Instagram and Facebook accounts, allowing the EFC communication team to identify and share contributions across its official platforms.
Federations and clubs are also welcome to publish content on their websites and social media channels, acknowledging the initiative of the EFC Equality & Diversity Commission.
The EFC Promotion & Marketing Commission will support the campaign by sharing selected contributions and helping the message reach the wider European fencing community.
Through the Wear It Pink Campaign, the European Fencing Confederation hopes to demonstrate that the strength of European fencing lies not only in sporting achievements, but also in its ability to unite people around causes that matter.
From 26 to 31 October, let's wear pink, share our support and stand together in the fight against breast cancer.
