Team Hungary defends title in Team Women’s Sabre

Reigning champions team Hungary – Kattinka Sugar Battai, Dorottya Csonk, Kira Keszei and Anna Spiesz – entered the competition ranked 2nd. After winning against Estonia 45-9, Poland 45-23 and Türkey 45-33, Hungary secured a spot in the final.

Their opponents, team Italy – Carlotta Fusetti, Michaela Landi, Maria Clementina Polli, Manuela Spica – battled their way through Greece 45-33, Germany 45-29 and 1st-seeded France 45-39 to reach the grand final.

The final began as an even affair as both teams clawed back from deficits, and entering the 5th bout the result was 20-19 after a solid performance by Manuela Spica 10-5. However, the Hungarians took an eight-point lead in the two following rounds, ultimately crossing the finish line 45-39 to defend their gold medal from 2022. Türkey – Begum Alkaya, Damla Demirkol, Nisansur Erbil and Nil Gungor - clinched the bronze medal after a solid win 45-41 against France in the bout for 3rd place.
