Nuala McGarrity
Nuala was an Irish international foil fencer in the 1960’s, having spent 1964 training in Paris
Marriage and family of 4 interrupted fencing and it was not until after her husband’s early death in 1987 that she re-connected with fencing, this time working with the Irish Fencing Federation eventually being elected Hon Secretary and Selector.
For over 25 years she held the role of Hon Secretary and also during this time acted as Team Manager at many Cadet, Junior and Senior Championships , culminating with the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.

Some years later, along with most of her colleagues she lost her seat but regained it 4 years later in 2013 when on her re-election she was appointed Treasurer of the EFC, a role she continues to hold today, helped by her professional experience gained as Stockbroker at a leading Irish firm until her retirement in 2009. She also acts as President of both the EFC Medical Commission and the EFC Safeguarding Commission.
Nuala continues to work on specific projects with Fencing Ireland.
She enjoys travelling and delights in spending time with her seven grandchildren.
